Where to start
When hiring an editor or proofreader, the initial communication is key to a building a successful working relationship. Don't be afraid to ask questions – whether you're completely new to the process or have had work edited and proofread in the past. I'll make sure I'm clear from the start about how I will work with your document, how long it should take and how much it will cost.
Most documents these days are edited onscreen, it is often the quickest and certainly the most cost-effective way to work. You can send your work via e-mail or, for larger files, by a file transfer service. I can work on documents in Microsoft Word, |
Payment and terms
Because all jobs are different and will require different amounts of work, it is not possible to provide a fixed pricing schedule. I'll ask for a sample of the work in question, chat to you about your requirements and will provide an estimate of both price and timescale for the project. I might ask for partial payment at the beginning of a project, particularly if you are a new client, otherwise payment is 30 days from the date of my invoice. I will send you a copy of my terms and conditions with your estimate.
Your work will be treated with confidentiality at all times.
